Behnaz Sarafpour launched her own line in 2001 with the steadfast support from some of fashion's most influential names (Vogue's Anna Wintour and Barneys VP Merchandising Julie Gilhart, just to name a few). Simple cuts, beautiful fabrics and accessible designs have ensured her a place among New York's latest crop of hot new designers, which include the likes of Zac Posen, Derek Lam and Proenza Schouler.

Before launching her own label, Sarafpour worked with Narciso Rodriguez, Louis Dell'Olio, Richard Tyler and Isaac Mizrahi (whom she has credited as her mentor). Sarafpour also designed for Barney's private label before finally launching her own line.

Having grown up in New York City, she uses the city as inspiration, which is apparent in her mixture of old and new - hard edges with soft, feminine touches and bursts of psychedelic color that makes everyone sit up and take notice.

Her collections are never overly trendy with mainstays like the slimming trench coat and the body-sculpting tank top. Her lean and elegant looks are popular with A-listers like Cate Blanchett, Selma Blair, Julia Stiles, Claire Danes, Ivanka Trump and supermodel Jacquetta Wheeler.
