Stella McCartney was born in London in 1972 to ex-Beatle Sir Paul and Linda McCartney. McCartney graduated from Central St Martins College of Art & Design. She first caught the world's attention during her graduation show, which was not only attended by her super-famous parents, but featured her supermodel pals Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss modeling her designs. Stella McCartney launched her own line immediately after leaving college and after only two collections she was appointed the creative director of the house of Chloe in Paris. In April 2001, Stella McCartney launched her own fashion house under her namesake in a joint venture with the Gucci Group. Her clothes are known for their sharp tailoring, irreverence and sexy femininity. A strict vegetarian, Stella McCartney does not use leather or fur in her designs. Her brand includes women's ready-to-wear, accessories, eyewear, her fragrance, Stella, the critically acclaimed sports performance collection for women, "Adidas by Stella McCartney" and in November 2005, she launched a hugely successful one off collection with H&M, entitled Stella McCartney for H&M. In addition, McCartney has also designed specially made costumes for Madonna's Reinvention Tour as well as the wardrobe for Gwyneth Paltrow and Jude Law for the film "Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow." |
