Steven Cojocaru is a celebrity insider and a style maven. He was born in Montreal, Canada in 1965 and started his career in journalism covering parties for the Canadian fashion magazine Flare. He moved to Hollywood, California in the early 1990s where he began writing a syndicated fashion column, “Hot Shots,” which ran in more than 100 newspapers across North America.
Cojocaru went on to join the prestigious ranks of Entertainment Tonight and The Insider. He was also a weekly contributor to “The Today Show,” served as People magazine’s West Coast Style Editor and authored the magazine’s popular column “Behind the Seams.”
In 2003, Cojocaru published his first book, the best-seller “Red Carpet Diaries: Confessions of a Glamour Boy,” which was chock full of gossip about what really goes on behind the scenes of Hollywood’s biggest and most glamorous awards shows. In November 2004, he announced that he was suffering from polycystic kidney disease and would have to undergo a kidney transplant. Cojocaru was able to have surgery on January 14, 2005, after his friend Abby Finer donated one of her kidneys. In April he appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show to discuss the operation and how he was fired from the Today Show right after his surgery.
About a year later his new kidney became infected by a virus, and in June 2005 he underwent a second operation to have the new kidney removed. He remains one of fashion’s most recognized personalities.
